Distance Healing

Find a professional for Distance Healing in Los Angeles

Distance healing is a healing method where the power of the mind is used to enhance the healing process.  Due to the broad definition of distance healing it encompasses a wide variety of approaches.  One example of distance healing is therapeutic touch.  Therapeutic touch is where a practitioner moves a patient’s energy using their hands without actually touching the patient.  Another example of distance healing is when prayer or positive thoughts are directed toward a sick person, along with healing intentions.  Yet another form of distance healing is spiritual healing, where prayer and spiritual ritual are used to heal.

A variety of studies have been conducted that support the effectiveness of spiritual healing.  In one study, volunteers with restricted neck movement received a type of spiritual healing, and the findings tentatively supported the effectiveness of this method.  Another study investigating spiritual healing also found it somewhat helpful to the recipients and found no adverse effects of using this supplemental therapy.

Larry Dossey, MD has been a leading advocate of distance healing, specifically prayer.  He has published several texts on the matter, including Healing Words: The Power of Prayer and the Practice of MedicineHealing Words focuses on reconnecting spiritual healing and the science of medicine.  A large portion of the book is a compilation of studies that have been conducted on prayer and its effectiveness at enhancing the healing process.
